24. brooklyn vs the open road vs a childhood home. an amalgamation of words, pictures, thoughts, ideas, music, stories and insomnia that may or may not be my own. i am a freelance photojournalist (and production assistant) and mostly shoot things of the musical persuasion. a home? i'd like to be somewhere different every day of the week. the lines between nerd & cool are forever being blurred in my life. it's a weird place to be in. hard work doesn't scare me, hate does. keep that PMA forever and always.

The Head and The Heart — “Lost In My Mind” (2011)
Directed by Christian Sorensen Hansen for Sub Pop Records
Martha & The Vandellas — “Dancing in The Streets” (1964, Motown Records)
The idea for this track came to the famed Hitsville/Motown producer and writer, William “Mickey” Stevenson, from watching people on the streets of Detroit cool off in the summer in water from opened fire hydrants. The illegal opening of fire hydrants in cities like Detroit or Philadelphia happened in predominantly poor black neighborhoods in the tumultuous, hot, summers of the early 1960s due to the rarity of city public pools in these areas. “Dancing in The Streets” became an anthem for the civil rights movement, despite its marketable quality as a dance single. Some radio stations even blacklisted the song from their station playlists because of the association.
